- Jasper County is home to two hospitals, both located in the City of Jasper. Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital and Dickerson Memorial Hospital offer excellent care. Jasper County is just a short two-hour drive from Houston, home to numerous medical facilities.

Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital has a new Behavioral Health program specifically for people ages 55 and older. The program addresses issues such as loss of a loved one, mental illness and depression and uses such tools as group counseling, individual counseling and telemedicine with a psychiatrist in Houston.
A level 4-designated trauma center, Jasper Memorial has a physician on-site 24 hours a day. An air rescue helicopter with a helipad at the hospital and one at Rayburn Clinic put Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont just 30 minutes away. A pilot, EMT and nurse are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The hospital has a full lab and offers in-patient physical, occupational and speech and language therapy. On staff are an orthopedic surgeon, a urologist and two gastrointestinal surgeons. The intensive care unit has six beds, and the 29-bed med surge department features all private rooms.
The medical imaging department offers ultrasound, CT scans, general ex-ray, mammography and MRI. Specialists in cardiology, podiatry, and nuclear medicine travel from Lufkin and Beaumont to see patients in Christus Jasper Memorial's outpatient center. - Dickerson Memorial Hospital - (409) 489-0600
A 27-bed medical/surgical facility with medical imaging and laboratory services, including general x-rays, mammography, ultrasound, CT scan and MRI. Dickerson Memorial offers outpatient surgery with a special recovery area for day surgery patients and has 24-hour emergency care. The Brazos Transit District (The District)
This public bus system has five fixed routes operating in Nacogdoches. - Transfers between routes are free. The fixed routes travel the same path every hour on the hour beginning and ending at the transfer point in downtown Nacogdoches. Passengers may board the bus anywhere along the route on the same side of the street as the entrance to the bus. All buses are wheelchair accessible. Comparable paratransit service is available for those unable to access the fixed routes. Passengers with regular pick-up needs are encouraged to call ahead for a specific pick-up time.

- *S&D PunchPasses are only available to clients who have been issued either a S-Pass or D-Pass card. A S-Pass or D-Pass Card must be shown to the driver each time the S&D PunchPass is used.

The pass entitles passengers to pay only $.50 on the fixed routes (Regular price $1.00). The pass must be shown each time the passenger boards the bus. The S-Pass and D-Pass cards are only for the fixed routes which are located in Nacogdoches and Lufkin. The passes do not apply for the Park & Rides, Express or Paratransit Service. Nacogdoches is a transfer point and passenger rest stop for the connecting Amtrak Bus, which transports and transfers passengers between Houston and Longview. With confirmed reservations, one can board the bus for either city. The bus currently stops at noon for the southbound trip to Houston and at 4:50 p.m.for northbound service to Longview. Amtrak service from Longview continues north to Chicago or west to Dallas, San Antonio and Los Angeles.
